Ozone layer protection has been stressed as one of the most important efforts to implement the Green Olympics, which together with High-Tech Olympics and People's Olympics, are the three concepts of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. BOCOG has been collaborating with UNEP-OzonAction Programme and SEPA to make Olympic Game ozone friendly, and has decided to prohibit the use of ODS or its products in the construction of facilities and other activities.

-- Compiling of environmental guidelines for the Olympic project construction/renovation, accommodation, marketing, and other big events of the Olympics. According to these guidelines, NO ODS is allowed to be used for air-conditioning systems, food preservation or fire extinguishers.

-- Exclusion of ODS in the Olympic projects procurement plans for air-conditioners, fire-extinguishing equipment and construction materials.

-- Specific measures to be implemented in the Games-time big events, catering & accommodation and transportation services to further enhance the protection during the Games.

These measures give great support to the ozone layer protection and will make a green Olympic Games in 2008 in Beijing.
