On July 1, 2005, BOCOG invited a pre-Games volunteer to give lectures to BOCOG staff members on the theme of "global environmental protection and Beijing Green Olympics."

During her lecture, Jiang Xiaoke, promotional team leader for "Green Olympics, Green Action," reviewed the development course of global environmental protection in the last 33 years. Jiang also introduced current global environmental concerns, and provided a full view of the positive role that the practice of the ideal of "Green Olympics" would play in facilitating local environmental control.

Pre-Games volunteers for environmental management are an important contingent of BOCOG's overall pre-Games volunteers. BOCOG pre-Games volunteers refer to persons recruited to participate in the routine or special activities of BOCOG and offer voluntary services to BOCOG during the preparatory stages of the Olympic Games.

The BOCOG Pre-Games Volunteer Project will be fully implemented this year. To date, there are 47 official volunteers in the service of Beijing's Olympic preparations.
