Rhythmic Gymnastics: Glossary

   Axis throw: A hoop throw where the hoop spins around its horizontal axis.

   Body: The wide end of the club.

   Boomerang throw: A throw of the ribbon where the cane is thrown but the gymnast grasps the end of the ribbon and pulls back on it, sending the cane flying towards her.

   Double stag: Position or leap where the legs are split and both knees are bent, with the back straight.

   Group routine: The name given to five gymnasts performing a routine together using the same apparatus or two different apparatus.

   Head: A small ball at the tapered end of the club with a maximum diameter of 30 millimetres.

   Neck: The narrow end of a club.

   Retro roll: A roll of the hoop in any direction which returns to the gymnast.

   Snake: A rippling movement of the ribbon which resembles the slithering action of a snake.
