Torino 2006 Mascot 'Aster' - a snowflake
Aster, the Torino 2006 Paralympic Winter Games macot, was created with the aim of symbolizing the Paralympic Winter Games of Torino 2006: it represents the spirit of this initiative, extolling the athletic results of participants rather than focusing on their disabilities. Aster takes on the shape,colour, structure and nimbleness of a snowflake.

Athens 2004 Mascot 'Proteas' - a sea-horse
The mascot creator searched for an image that would portray the four unique values for the ATHENS 2004 Paralympic Games: inspiration, strength, pursuit, celebration. The mascot for the 2004 Paralympic Games is a sea-horse (hippocampus) named Proteas, from a divinity of the Greek mythology.

Salt Lake City 2002 Mascot 'Otto'- an otter
The mascot for the Paralympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City 2002 was Otto the otter. Ancient Indian tribes considered the otter to be one of the most powerful of all animals. After being nearly wiped out by pollution and overtrapping the river otter has been reintroduced to Utah and can be seen along the banks of the Green River and near Flamig Gorge.

Sydney 2000 mascot 'Lizzie' - a lizard
The Mascot for the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games was Lizzie, the frill-necked lizard. She was chosen to carry the Paralympic messages of performance, power and pride to both Australian and international audiences. Her strength, determined will and attitude symbolize all Paralympians.
