 IOC and BOCOG jointly launch media operations workshop. |
(BEIJING May 15) -- A workshop on media operations was held by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Organizing Committee for the 29th Olympic Games in Beijing from 9-12 May 2006.
The four-day training program touched on many aspects of Olympic media operations, including main press center (MPC), venue media centers (VMCs), media accreditation timetable, transportation, publications and rate card.
IOC Media Operations Senior Manager Anthony Edgar and invited experts provided case studies of the Turin Olympic Winter Games and reviewed the standards of media equipment and services for the 2008 Games, laying a foundation for media operations in the next stage.
Media operations experts Richard Palfreyman and Sue Graham who took part in Athens and Turin Games respectively advised BOCOG staff that attention be paid to details, with thorough and speedy services extended to accredited media during the 2008 Games. They voiced satisfaction over the preparatory work for media operations in 2008.
Staff of BOCOG Media Operations Department and those people involved in the job in six co-host cities, namely Shanghai, Tianjin, Qingdao, Shenyang, Qinhuangdao and Hong Kong attended the workshop.
BOCOG Media Operations Department provides equipment and services for accredited written and photographic press and non-rights-holding broadcasters during the 2008 Olympic Games. It also coordinates and facilitates broadcasting services for rights-holding broadcasters' staff and the host broadcaster -- Beijing Olympic Broadcasting Co., Ltd (BOB). It strives to ensure that accredited media personnel will have the best conditions to do their best to cover the Olympiad and attract the largest attendance.
