1989.4.26-5.5 China's proposal for setup of multi-lateral fund mechanism was adopted at the First Meeting of Parties.
1989.7.14 The State Council approved to ratify Vienna Convention and appointed National Environmental Protection Agency to deal with routine issues for its implementation.
1989.9.11 China formally ratified the Vienna Convention, effective on December 10, 1989.
1991.6.17-21 China officially announced to ratify Montreal Protocol London Amendment at the Third Meeting of Parties to Montreal Protocol. The Protocol became effective to China on August 10, 1992.
1991.7.15 National Leading Group for Ozone Layer Protection was established.
1992.5 The Project Management Office and Information Clearinghouse were set up.
1993.1.12 The State Council approved the Country Program.
1993.3.8-10 The Executive Committee of MLF approved China's Country Program at its Ninth Meeting.
1993.4.20-23 International Workshop on CFC and Halon Conversion Technologies was held in Beijing.
1994.5.9-10 National Leading Group for Ozone Layer Protection held meeting to review and approve in principle the Tobacco Amendment to Country Program.
1994.11.11 Ministry of Public Security and National Environmental Protection Agency jointly issued Notice on Ban of New Deployment of Halon Extinguishers at Unnecessary Places.
1995.5.18 Property Hand-over Ceremony for Tianjin PU Conversion Project was held. It is the first MLF project completed.
1995.6.11-18 International Workshop on Sector Phaseout Strategies was held in Xi'an.
1995.7.26-28 MLF ExCom approved at its 17th meeting the project of Study on Halon Sector Phaseout Approach.
1995.9.15 Commemorative Meeting on 9.16 International Ozone Day was held in Beijing.
1995.9.16 Awareness Campaign was organized at commercial streets in Beijing.
1996.1.9-10 Ministry of Chemical Industry convened the National Workshop on Substitute Technologies.
1996.4.22-24 National Environmental Protection Agency promulgated Guidelines for Implementation of MLF Projects.
1996.9.16-17 China First Conference on Ozone Layer Protection was held in Beijing.
1997.1 National Leading Group for Ozone Layer Protection decided to update the Country Program.
1997.2.26 National Environmental Protection Agency issued Notice on Strengthening Local EPB's Role in Ozone Layer Protection.
1997.6.5 Nine ministries jointly issued Notice on Ban of CFC Using in Aerosol Sector. CFCs are not allowed to be used as aerosol propellants since December 31, 1997.
1997.7.2 Ministry of Machinery Industry issued Notice of Ban of CFC MAC in New Autos.
1997.7-9 Xinfei Cup Ozone Knowledge Contest was organized. About 160,000 people participated in the contest.
1997.11 The Halon Sector Plan was approved at the 23rd meeting of MLF ExCom.
1998.8-9 Children's Painting Competition was organized. The work of Qunan (8 years old) was sent to UNEP and won special prize.
1998.9.16-18 UNDP, UNEP and SEPA jointly convened 9.16 Commemorative Meeting and International Workshop on Country Program Update in Beijing.
1998.11.11-13 MAC Sector Plan was approved at the 26th ExCom Meeting.
1998.11.24 The Tenth Meeting of Parties decided China would host the 11th MOP.
1999.3.25 CFC Production Sector Plan was approved at the 27th ExCom Meeting.
1999.4 The State Council approved setup of Organizing Committee of Preparation of 11th MOP. Vice Premier Wen Jiabao acts as the Chair, while Mr. Xie Zhenhua, Minister of SEPA, is the Vice Chair.
1999.5.31 SEPA and State Bureau of Petrol and Chemical Industry jointly issued the Notice of CFC Production Quota Licensing System, which became effective on January 1, 1999.
1999.11 The State Council approved the update of china's country program for ozone depleting substances phaseout.
1999.11.29-12.3 The combined Fifth Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and the Eleventh Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer was held in Beijing
2000.9.1 China enacted revised Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Atmospheric Pollution, which restricts the production, import and consumption of ODS.
2002 Auto air conditioner sector of China achived the target of ODS phase out.
2003.4 Chinese government ratified Copenhagen Amendment to the Motreal Protocol, committing to reduce the production and consumption of methyl bromide to 80% by January 1, 2005.
2003 SEPA held the 1st Ozone Layer Protection Contribution Award Ceremony.
2003 As of end of 2003, CFCs production, CFCs consumption, and Halon production and consumption dropped by 40%, 55% and 85% respectively, compared with 1997.
2004.9.13 SEPA announced an Inventory of Recommended Substitutes (First Group).The Inventory inclueds 45 substitutes in 7 industrial sectors.
2004.9.16 SEPA held the 2nd Ozone Layer Protection Contribution Award Ceremony.
2004.9 SEPA announced to control TCA production using a quota licensing system.
2005.9.16 SEPA held the 3rd Ozone Layer Protection Contribution Award Ceremony.
2005.9.16 11 provincial and municipal governments signed on the Letter of Advocacy for Accelerating ODS Phaseout, announcing to take actions for phaseout of CFCs and Halons in their respective provinces and cities by July 1, 2006.
