Announcement on Beijing Olympic Volunteer Slogan Solicitation

BOCOG and the Beijing Olympic Volunteer Program Coordination Group have established a "Beijing Olympic Volunteer Slogan Solicitation Office". This is aimed to better practice the concepts of "Green Olympics, High-tech Olympics and People's Olympics" as well as the ideas of the Beijing Olympic Volunteer Program -- "people-oriented, and serving and contributing to the Olympic Games", support various volunteer-themed activities, mobilize and call on volunteers to devote themselves enthusiastically to the services of the Olympic Games. Starting from today, the office is calling for volunteer slogans from the public. The details are announced as follows:

I. Starting and ending dates

The open solicitation starts from March 31 and ends on August 31, 2006.

II. Requirements of the slogan

1. Highly summarizing the concept of Beijing Olympic Volunteer Program -- "service first and harmony first" and highlighting the striking feature of the times and the Chinese culture throughout the Beijing Olympic Games.

2. Clearly reflecting the idea that "Volunteers' smiles are the best name card of Beijing"

3. Carrying international flavor and catering to the world so that people from different countries and regions and of various cultural backgrounds can understand and accept it. Both the Chinese version and the English one should be equally impressive.

4. Being brief, rhythmic, easy to remember, inspiring and appealing.

III. Selection Procedures

From September to October 2006, the Beijing Olympic Volunteer Slogan Solicitation Office (Hereinafter referred to as "Slogan Solicitation Office") shall organize experts concerned to review the submissions to select 10 slogans in Chinese or English for the approval of BOCOG, out of which, the BOCOG Executive Board shall identify one Chinese slogan and one English slogan.

IV. Submission Procedures

1. After filling out the Entry Form attached to this announcement, the contributor shall submit the slogans together with the signed and valid Entry Form to the Slogan Solicitation Office within the period of the solicitation.

2. The contributors who submit slogans through postal service may download and print the Entry Form for Solicitation and Selection of the Volunteer Slogan for Beijing Olympic Games from the official website of BOCOG, www.beijing2008.cn, and mail the filled forms and slogans to Beijing Olympic Volunteer Slogan Solicitation Office / Beijing Olympic Tower, 267 Beisihuan Zhonglu, Haidian District, Beijing, Postcode: 100083.

3. The contributors who submit slogans through e-mail shall need to send the filled Entry Form for Solicitation and Selection of the Volunteer Slogan for Beijing 2008 Olympic Games in the form of attachment to zyzkh@bjyouth.net or volunteers@beijing-olympic.org.cn (e-mail address for BOCOG Volunteer Program), and go through the participation procedure in line with the instruction of the Slogan Solicitation Office.

V. Awards

BOCOG and the Beijing Olympic Volunteer Program Coordination Group shall issue an honor certificate to the authors whose slogan has been selected.

XI. Other issues

The laws of the People's Republic of China shall be applicable to any disputes relating to this activity and such disputes shall be settled in Beijing. The right to interpret this activity shall rest with BOCOG.
