In compliance with the Invitation and the Rules of the Mascot Design Competition for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games, the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (hereinafter referred to as "BOCOG") hereby organizes the Mascot Design Competition (hereinafter referred to as "Design Competition") for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games (the Games of the XXIX Olympiad, hereinafter referred to as "Beijing Olympics") and the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games (hereinafter referred to as "Beijing Paralympics") to solicit the design proposals to be used as the mascots for the Beijing Olympics and the Beijing Paralympics, respectively, from professional design organizations and individuals worldwide.

BOCOG herewith invites you to participate in the Design Competition. BOCOG will, based on the selection results of the Design Competition, decide on the Mascots for the Beijing Olympics and the Beijing Paralympics, respectively. The finally selected Mascots will be one of the most significant symbols of the Beijing Olympics and the Beijing Paralympics, as well as a key image vehicle for communicating and embodying the spirit of the Beijing Olympics and the Beijing Paralympics; thus they will attract worldwide attention.

All professional institutions, consulting firms, advertising agencies and individual professionals engaged in design, imaging strategies, brand development, cartoon and animation design or experienced in mascot design that have received this Invitation may participate in the Design Competition. All organizations and individuals who have received this Invitation and submitted design proposals pursuant to the requirements of this Invitation may be qualified participants in this competition.
